I had the front wheel re-balanced today; that lessened the shaking some. The mechanic did check the head bearings; he said they are OK. The salesman suggested that it may be caused by the engine as the bike slows down with the throttle closed: it's true that I only notice shaking at a certain speed with the throttle closed and my grip very loose on the bars. I think I'll accept for now that it's OK. My main concern was that it might be a bad wheel bearing, but I think that a bad bearing would be noticeable at other times: maybe someone here can comment on that.
